Lyra2RE White Paper and Development Progress

Vertans,

Much progress has been made since our last blog post. Due to your generous donations we have contracted someone who can produce a working AMD and nVidia miner. A testing port of ccminer has been completed and an sgminer port has an ETA of 2 to 3 days.

Due to the close proximity of the fork, we have created a Lyra2RE white paper which will give you some more details about what to expect. It can be found here: https://vertcoin.org/downloads/Vertcoin_Lyra2RE_Paper_11292014.pdf

Please share this with others so we can get everyone excited about the fork!

Thanks,

James

Development Fund

Vertans,

As has already been posted on Reddit, we are looking to start a new, dedicated development fund in order to compensate the specialised development required for the GPU miner. This will allow us to move forward with the fork at breakneck speed. In terms of development status, the GPU miner is the last piece of the puzzle, with wallet integration having been completed.

Please donate what you can to this address: VpBsRnN749jYHE9hT8dZreznHfmFMdE1yG

Development Update And Stealth Address Code Release

Vertans,

Today we are very happy to announce that the source code for stealth addresses is now available to view and download on github! Everything can be found here: https://github.com/vertcoin/vertcoin/. This version has been tested on Debian 7 and ought to work on other platforms as well. If you find a problem with building on your chosen platform, please submit any changes necessary as a pull request and we will get them merged.

In terms of Lyra2RE development, wallet integration is well on its way, we are currently ironing out any problems and hope to fork before the end of the year, potentially as early as mid-December. This means that the only thing holding us back is the lack of a working GPU miner. Once one is created we can go full speed ahead with the fork.

Regards,

James

New Developer And Lyra2RE Progress Update

Vertans,

Firstly I’d like to introduce myself. Many of you will know me from Reddit as the developer of Greenpool. I have joined the development team recently to aid with the implementation of Lyra2RE and I plan to stay for the foreseeable future to see Vertcoin grow and ultimately succeed in this oversaturated crypto coin market.

Currently, development is well under way for the fork to Lyra2RE. The algorithms that Lyra2 will be chained with to form Lyra2RE have been decided and many essential pieces of software have been ported. A Python module for Lyra2RE has been created which means that Stratum-Mining and P2Pool are ready for the fork. Sgminer has also been modified to make it ready for the completion of a working OpenCL kernel. At this time, wallet integration needs to be completed as well as OpenCL and CUDA kernels created, the latter two of which we are looking for members of the community who are experienced with these systems to help us complete this task. [email protected] if you have OpenCL or CUDA experience and would like to help out.

Regards,
